Two weeks until the Autumn Show
Bucklebury and Marlston Horticultural Society
With only two weeks until the Autumn Show on 9th September, I hope your tomatoes are finally beginning to ripen. The lack of sunhine in July has meant for many of us it's been a slow start to the tomato harvest, but of course now there will be the inevitable glut. The plentiful supply of rain this summer has meant the beans have done very well, so I'm hoping to see some strong entries for the longest runner bean. Last year we didn't have any entries in the Chrysanthemum classes, so if you have some growing in your garden please be bold and put in an entry. At this point last year we were all recovering from the driest July on record for southern England, and that increible heat peaking at over 40°C. That seems so far away right now!
Don't forget to start searching through your photo albums now for entries to the photography classes, you know if you leave it until the night before you'll never find the one you're looking for.
Entries for the show should be submitted by 8pm on Thursday 7th September. We do take late entries on the day but it helps with planning the spacing of the exhibits if entries are submitted in advance. The new online entry form can be used or email [email protected]. There are also hints and tips on exhibiting on the website.
